2005 Highlights

The 2005 PIA of Montana Annual Convention Convoy landed in Missoula on October 17, spent two great days in Great Falls, October 18 and 19 and wrapped up the convention in Billings, October 20th.

This year's theme was Bringing it All Together

For the last couple of years Gary Thompson has been one of the most popular instructors at the Montana convention. He did this year's continuing education and taught three great classes. Gary's knowledge of the industry combined with a homespun sense of humor again made him a hit with those attending.

His morning class was Agents Errors &Omissions. He noted that one in three agencies gets hit with an E&O claim and gave attendees methods to reduce the risk of errors and omissions in their agencies. The afternoon class dealt with identifying policy gaps in homeowners and personal auto policies. He called it You Didn't Read Your Policy? Hidden Traps for the Personal Insurance Customer.

In Great Falls Gary added a special class on October 18th. The Disaster of not Planning for a Disaster showed attendees how to develop an agency disaster strategy.

Every industry has people who are extraordinary. Several people in Montana made a real difference to the American Agency System, to their community and in the PIA.

The PIA of Montana Company Person of the Year - Gary Geller, Senior Underwriter of Concord General Agency. Gary is known for his action and as a problem-solver. And like all of us - he loves Montana and the PIA of Montana loves Gary!

The American Association of Managing General Agents AAMGA Award - Provident Financial's Cheryl "Frankie" Frank. To quote her employer, independent insurance agents are "her family." PIA of Montana has benefited from her love of independent insurance agents.

The PIA of Montana Agent of the year award - Dennis Wolff. As your president he has helped grow PIA Montana. He has incorporated the Western Alliance and the products and services it brings to make all of you more profitable. And he has done it in a way that keeps the Montana PIA the Montana PIA.
